Workflow Action Date Format

Hi all

I hope everyone is well.

I have a workflow running on sales orders.

The workflow has an action to pull a date value from the line item and put it in a date column on the line.

I get an error saying that I am trying to put an invalid value into the field.

If I change the type of field from Date to Free Text it works and looks like this:

I have tried using

TO_CHAR

TRUNC

TO_DATE

In the formula for the date in order to change the format which is being pulled from the item. But it always returns an error.
