Can I not use the Subsidiary Navigator to view just the Parent Subsidiary?

As above. I'm using the subsidiary navigator and its portlet in order to restrict what information I'm looking at. However, there doesn't appear to be a way to view only the parent subsidiary?

Clicking the parent always selects all of the children and I don't seem to be able to unclick the subsidiaries either.
