Using items for tax - w/Avalara, Salesforce and integration to NetSuite/ARM

We have a scenario where our invoicing is done from Salesforce. We have integrated Salesforce with NetSuite so when the invoice is generated in SF - it is automatically recorded in NetSuite.

We are a Canadian company and we now have a situation where we are now collecting sales tax in several US states. We have implemented Avalara to handle tax when creating the quotes/orders/invoices in Salesforce. To accommodate for the application of tax by Avalara in SF - in the integration with NetSuite, we have automatically added a line item to the NetSuite invoice to capture the calculated US tax amount for each state (ie: we have created an item in NS for each state, mapped to a liability account - and the amount that Avalara calculates is posted as
