Average Cost of an Item Is Null

Hi


I referred to Answer ID 75131 and it confirms that the average cost under the Purchasing/Inventory tab displays  null if the total quantity of the item is 0. 

How do we then verify the latest average cost of an item that we sell frequently if at the moment of verification we do not have the item in stock
