Why can customers not view their open invoices in a PDF from within the customer center or SCA Site?

Hello,

We had a report of a customer not being able to generate their invoices from the suitecommerce website we have. The error that they receive is:

This transaction cannot be displayed. Please contact us for details on this transaction.

And I went ahead and created a contact under their customer record myself to see if I could reproduce the issue and I received the exact same thing. From what I could tell though is that the error was only showing up for invoices that were currently open, but that the paid in full ones would generate just fine. Is this normal NetSuite behavior or is something going on?
