Quality Specification Item Fulfillment Trigger

I have set up a Quality Specification, linked to Customer and Item, that when an item fulfillment is 'triggered" to kick off the inspection. But nothing is happening on the quality side of things when this item fulfilment is created. Is there an addtional step I am missing? Do i need to create a standalone workflow for the trigger to actual be meaningful? I really wish there was better training available for the quality module
