AP bills approval delegation

New to Net Suite:

What is the best way to delegate approvals when a approver is out of work unexpectedly?

Employee has many bills waiting for her approval but went out of work unexpectedly. Currently AP has been deleting them all and entering again after delegating her approvals.

Is that necessary or can we delegate the ones sitting unapproved?
