Intercompany vendor/customer

Hello. In NetSuite, is it necessary to create a vendor and customer for each subsidiary relationship? What would be the implications if we only have one vendor or one customer per parent entity? For instance, if the US entity sells products to both the UK and India, can we use a single customer for the US instead of creating two separate customers one representing UK and one India? Additionally, is there an automated feature available for this process, or is it necessary to add these entities manually?
