Deferred Revenue (Contra Account)

Greetings.

My team is looking to enter invoices to debit a contra deferred revenue account for fees for us to collect for which we have not yet performed the service. Conventionally, we would create an invoice, which will always hit A/R or even using a billing schedule would do the same. Is there a way to do this without purchasing the NetSuite Revenue Recognition module?
