ODBC Connection Freezes Excel

We are curious if anyone has any experience with connecting to NetSuite data/tables through Excel. We have attempted the ODBC connection with some success, however the connection freezes Excel (all open Excel documents are not responsive) and can be slower to update. Are there any other tools that we can use to connect to the data through PowerQuery/PowerBI?
