concatenate 2 free text format fields

I have this record where I want to concatenate the YEAR and MONTH field into a YEARMONTH field. All fields are free form text.

Here is the view of the record:

I use this formula in the workflow, after field edit on both month and year

the result is that only the year is entered in the YEARMONTH field and I have no clue why.

Help please!!
