Intercompany Sales Order Error: Item XXX is not available in XXX subsidiary

When attempting to create an Intercompany SO from a PO, I receive an error saying "You cannot generate an intercompany sales order because item XXX is not available in XXX subsidiary." This item has received inventory into this subsidiary, so it is not an issue related to subs on the item record. Please advise.
