Intercompany Purchase Order in Saved Search

I am creating a transaction saved search that will show me the the list of intercompany sales order pending fulfillment. Then I tried to add a column to show me the related intercompany purchase order. But when I added the 'Intercompany Purchase Order' in the results, it shows the internal ID of the intercompany purchase order not the PO#. I found that its a current system limitation, but I am wondering if anyone tried a workaround that worked?

I tried creating a custom field and then a workflow that will populate it but I can't get it to work.

Any ideas?
