Uniqueness error - there is already an item with that name or name/parent combination.

I am trying to edit an item but receiving this error,

Uniqueness error - there is already an item with that name or name/parent combination.

I have checked and there is no parent listed as the name and there is no other product with the name, so i dont know why this is occuring.
