Add Department under Line Level in Amortisation Schedule

Is it possible to add a Department column at the line level? We would like to fetch the Department name from the Bill or Journal (from which the amortization schedule is created) and display it at the line level. The Bill or Journal contains a department section. Can anyone please help me understand if this is possible, and if so, how to do it?
