Cannot edit role on contact record

Hi There

I was wanting to edit the native 'Role' field on a contact record:

Following the instructions in SuiteAnswers 67013, I have placed the customer record into edit mode

However, the role column is not editable: (Note: Fictitious Data)

How do I change the contact's role?
