Can wired/tethered barcode scanners be plugged into ipads instead of PC?

Hi NetSuite Gurus,

I would like to ask if it's possible to plug wired barcode scanners to Ipads/tablets instead of PC? Will it work the same as using PC? Our SKU only includes the tethered scanner and not the mobile one. And we're looking for possibility to make it work with ipads.
