Commerce Category question for SCS

I have a category I would like to use to organize what will be sub-categories. But I do not need the category to be forward facing. It would be more like a corral space to keep its sub-categories from just hanging around loose.

Is this doable?

Is there a better way to achieve what I am looking for?
