Why can't the preferred Entity bank field be set?

Hi

I have the following field on vendor bill screens

This is from the NetSuite electronics payments bundle.

When I try to set this field on the UI or using a script, the value is not stored.

Why would that be the case?

The field shows it is supposed to store value.
