Inventory for Field Service/Delivery Drivers

Our delivery drivers/field service reps take various inventory items on the road with them in case customers need a replacement part. If the part is used, we will bill the customer. Is it better to create a new location that we put these parts in or an inventory status? If there's another way please share.
