Negative Bereavement hours in Employee Acct??

One of my employees has a negative -8 hrs in his bereavement account … but when I go to his Payroll account and check his accrued hours - where I think the bereavement hrs balanace would show - there is nothing … and I can't add "bereavement" as a account to his record?? He has never used "bereavement in all the years he has been an employee - he is my son :)
