Custom segment

I have a question on custom segment.

Let's say each customer record is paired with a Production House (this should also come from the customer list). We need a custom segment, and the custom segment should source Production House from the customer record. Currently, I am not able to ensure that Production House comes from customer list, and wondering how can we do that?
