How can I get a custom segment to filter columns on an income statement

I created a custom segment that I would like to be able to use as a filter on financial income statements. The link below shows that it is possible but I am not able to get mine to function the same. The screenshot below shows where I want this to populate (Column Filter) on my income statement.

How can I setup this custom segment to allow this?
