How do I customise an advanced pdf/html template and save a new version?

Hi I am an administrator. I can't seem to save as a new version of an advanced pdf/html template with a different name. My only option is to overwrite an existing template. My other option was to copy and paste into a new template. However when I select a new template it does not give me the option to select the Type, which defeats the purpose because I wanted an invoice type so this would appear as an option in the custom invoice form.
