Top 50 Product Sold KPI

When trying to create kpi for the, Top 50 Items by Sales, I get the view I want but when I click on an item to get the detail, it does not show the company name. When I customize the view to add a column for the company name, on the, Sales by Item Detail report, it creates a new customer name column but when I try to setup a new KPI and pull from this new report, it does not show up on my search to add it. Not sure what i am doing wrong. Any help is appreciated
