Cannot get User Event scripts to execute

I am not experienced with coding so rely on Perplexity and ChatGPT to help create scripts for certain functions. For some reason I can never get the User Event scripts to trigger. I don't know whether it is the script itself or the way I am trying to deploy it.

I have the attached very simple logging script to try to troubleshoot. When I update a sales order it is supposed to create a log but nothing happens when I update and save.

I have confirmed that the correct script file is linked to the script and after submit is ticked.
