Send Email Invoices through Work Flow only when there is a balance

I have a workflow for invoices that will send email based on criteria and it works. Now I need to add criteria that will only send when the invoice has a balance. Do I use the RecordId fields? I added this criteria and it is not working: RecordId : Total Amount > RecordId : Amount Paid
