How do I add a custom segment at the line level for a deposit or accepting customer payment

How do I add a custom segment at the line level for a deposit or accepting customer payment without an associated invoice? It seems the classification is only at the header level for complete deposit. We need the deposit to be broken apart into different amounts by a custom segment of program
