Restlet / Suitelet - Authentication Requirements

We need to integrate with a 3rd party solution that provides 'webhooks' to notify NetSuite when something changes in the external system.

The external system will send an HTTP Post command to a URL that we specify (the NetSuite Suitelet / Restlet) - and it will use a 'secret' for authentication.

From looking through NetSuite documentation, it seems that NetSuite requires Token Based Authentication - is there any way to avoid this?
