Specialized User Roles

I understand that these roles can be customised and restricted further, but other permissions cannot be added (which makes sense given the reduced cost)

NetSuite Applications Suite - Specialized User: CRM Role

How do these roles interact with Custom Records? Can I add a Specialized User Role to a Custom Record to grant access, or would this require a General Access license?

Also, do these Specialized User Roles also work with Permissions and Restrictions for SuitePeople data in the same way as normal roles?
