Download save search with negative numbers sign

We have created an account analysis in NetSuite and users want to download the data with the negative sign or parathesis. I created formulas to display the negative sign as my understanding is the numbers are stored as text so even thought they display as negative, they download to excel as text. Anyone found a solution for this?
