How can add items to Sales Orders by their Alias?

Hi all,

I have a field where I'm storing the Alias of an item as a string. I want to be able to select this item on a Sales Order by searching for the Alias. How can I achieve this?
For example, we have two Assembly Items: 11.102PSH1 and 13.306CL1H3 which have been recreated to be used by another subsidiary and have new names 96SBPS30 and 96GP30RTC.

So, 96GP30RTC has a field called Alias that references 13.306CL1H3

Here as a doctored example is what I want to achieve:
I have a sales order where I search for 11.102PSH1 and it instead returns 96SBPS30. I can't see 11.102PSH1 as an option as it is for a different subsidiary.
