How to Change Costing Method Standard Costing to FIFO for Large Number of Existing Items/ Assembly

edited Dec 11, 2025 4:52PM in Ask A Guru 5 comments

Hi All,

We need to switch a large number of inventory and assembly items (around 11,000) from Standard Costing to FIFO in NetSuite.
Since most of these items already have historical transactions, I know the costing method can’t be changed directly.
What’s the recommended approach to handle this?
Is a bulk process (CSV import, scripting, etc.) available?
How do we manage this while keeping transaction history and audit trail intact?
What’s the best practice for migrating such a large item set without manual effort?
Would appreciate any insights or experiences from others who have done a similar migration.

Howdy, Stranger!
