Tracking data changes issue

There is Record Type A and Record Type B, where B is a child record of A. User Ben opens the edit page for Record A's data. While Ben is editing, User Joe modifies the data of Record B. If Ben then saves Record A, his changes would overwrite the modifications made by Joe. Can an issue like this be handled?
