SuiteApprovals: How to set up a backup approver

Hello,

I’m trying to clarify how the Final Approver (Super Approver) functionality on an employee record works in the context of SuiteApprovals.

Here’s the scenario:

  • Our goal is to have only one level of approval for Journal Entries — approval by the employee’s Supervisor.
  • However, we also want to ensure there’s a backup approver available in case the Supervisor is out of office (OOO) and no delegation has been set up.
  • We would like to assign a Final Approver only for emergency or backup purposes, so the Final Approver should not be required to approve every Journal Entry, but rather only step in when needed.
