Does item pricing default to the customer’s primary subsidiary when linked to many?

If a customer is associated with multiple subsidiaries, does the customer item pricing sublist default to the customer’s primary subsidiary context?
scenario:

  • Customer
    • Primary Subsidiary = Sub 1
    • Secondary Subsidiaries = Sub 2 and Sub 3
  • Item
    • Assigned only to Sub 2

Getting an error while updating the customer item price: Invalid item reference key *** for subsidiary 1.
