We want to add a Custom Column to our Weekly Timesheet custom form. SuiteAnswer 8499 explains how to do this well.
Background.
We use the NS Project Management capability. We also use Payroll Items. Normally our employees charge to Projects selecting their Project and Project Task. But for overhead items like PTO, Holiday, etc, they skip over the Project and select one of several Payroll Items from that column.
Why we are asking this question.
For General Liability Insurance, we must identify if a weekly timesheet line item is for work performed as,
1) Field Support - in their Subsidiary's country
2) Field Support - in a country other than their Subsidiary's country
3) Non-Field work - either in our offices or working from home
This Custom Column will contain a field with a pulldown List with the above 3 selections.
Here is the question.
The first column of our Weekly Timesheet form is Customer Project. For each individual line, if the employee selects a Customer/Project, we want the field to display in the new Custom Column. If the Employee skips over the Customer/Project column, and instead chooses a Payroll Item from that column, we want the field to disappear on that line in the the Custom Column. Basically, if an Employee charges to PTO, the Field Support question is irrelevant.
It seems like I've seen NetSuite do this, but I cannot remember a good example to provide for this question.
Is this even possible in NetSuite without super-duper coding that will be way over my head? I've seen suggestions regarding a "Dependent Column", but none of them helped me.
Thank you in advance.
