Filter from Bin Record Not Working on Item Search

My end user successfully created a search using this article exactly:

It works fine in terms of base functionality, but now she wants to filter off a checkbox created on the bin record. I am able to add the field to the results but it doesn't pull in any results. I am guessing it is too many joins down. The filter likewise (obviously) does not work.

Is there a way to get around this? She wants to be able to exclude anything that doesn't have the box checked.
