What is the difference between a Search and a Report

I am fairly new to NetSuite and have just been completing simple entries and updates. I now need to start getting data back out of NetSuite.

I understand there are two formats: "Searches and Reports". What's the difference between these two formats?

I will need to learn how to create both Searches and Reports. What is the best way to get education on both of these topics?
