Can we apply functions on top of the attributes &REQUESTID,&DATE,&TIME,&PAYMENTFILEID that we use in transmission configuration sent file name?

Ex: &DATE provides YYYYMMDD, to pickup the DD alone, Can we use SUBSTR(&DATE,7,2) ?
