Journal Entry Auto Approve for specific User

We are currently using Approval Rules for our Journal Entry approvals. We have a approval levels that the Journal Entries move through.

I have a request from our financial team that wants Journal Entries for a specific user to be auto-approved. If know I can set up a workflow that will auto-approve the Journal Entries to the specific user, but I'm uncertain how this will work with our existing approval rules.

Will this work? Would the workflow run before the Approval rules? Would both the workflow and approval rule be executed?
