Hi everyone,
I’m trying to update and clean up a large volume (40.000) of Item Bin Numbers via CSV import in NetSuite and running into an issue with multiple bins across multiple locations.
Context:
- Record Type: Inventory Item
- Feature: Multi-Location Inventory + Bins enabled
- Goal: Disassociate bins from the item sublist (remove Item Bin Number assignments), not delete the bins themselves.
My goal is to
Note: All bins being removed have zero inventory
What I’m doing:
- CSV Import with:
- Data Handling: Update
- Overwrite Sublists: TRUE
- File structure:
Internal ID | Location | Bin Number | Preferred
10112 | Sunshine Warehouse | 123_SUN | T
10112 | Campbellfield Warehouse | 123_CAM | T
Expected result:
- Both bins remain (one per location)
- Any other existing bins are removed
Actual result:
- Only the LAST line in the CSV is retained after import
- All previous bin lines are effectively overwritten
What I’ve already tried:
- Removing extra columns (Name, Description)
- Using correct sublist mapping (Item Bin Numbers)
- Testing with the same location (still fails)
- Adding External ID for grouping
- Attempting Line ID workaround
Question:
Is this a limitation of CSV import with bin sublists and multiple locations?
Or is there a specific way to structure the import so NetSuite correctly processes multiple bin lines?
Any guidance or confirmation would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
