Best Practice for Tester SKUs - Retail Industry

Hi All,

I work in a retail industry and want to know what is the best practice for tester items; Let's say we have SKU: LIP0101 and we have a tester item for this LIP0101T, it becomes a tester after the warehouse strips off the original label and apply the tester label.

Should we create LIP0101T as an assembly? Then create a Work Order for the items that need to be converted to a tester item?

Concern raised for this approach is that we would create a corresponding assembly, BOM and BOM revisions for all of our SKUs that would need a tester.
