Are my workflows bad? 😅

Question

Just wondering if there's anything obviously wrong with the structure of my workflows? As they currently create numerous history logs that most of the time don't really seem to log anything of significance.

It currently makes it difficult to debug one issue I'm having where very rarely this workflow isn't setting a value it's supposed to in the After Submit section.

Hey @Dext3r

It appears that your workflows are running a lot.  It's not bad per se - but you can limit how often it runs by putting in some tighter criteria.

If the actions don't need to be run every time the quote or SO is opened in the UI, you can set the requirements to be based on a button to kick the workflow off, for example.  It's not hurting anything that it runs a lot, but it could be cleaner.

From what you've shared, I don't see anything that immediately suggests the workflows are "bad." A large number of workflow history entries is fairly common, especially when workflows are configured to trigger on events such as View, Edit, or After Record Submit.

One thing I'd recommend checking is whether all states and actions truly need to execute every time the record is loaded or updated. Adding more specific entry conditions or state transition conditions can help reduce noise in the workflow history and make troubleshooting easier.

For the issue where the value is occasionally not being set in the After Submit section, it may also be worth checking whether another workflow, User Event script, SuiteFlow action, or concurrent process could be updating the same field and causing intermittent behavior.

If you can share screenshots of the workflow definition (trigger type, initiation conditions, and the After Submit state/actions), the community may be able to spot opportunities for optimization or identify potential conflicts. Thanks!
