As a NetSuite administrator, you may be asked to investigate why a Revenue Arrangement does not appear under an Invoice record’s Related Records > Revenue Arrangements subtab, even though the same Invoice is visible from the Revenue Arrangement’s Related Records subtab.
At first, this may look like a missing relationship, incomplete record linkage, or a permissions issue. However, this can be expected NetSuite behavior when the Revenue Element is sourced from a Sales Order rather than directly from the Invoice.
Understanding the Source Transaction
When a Sales Order is the source of the Revenue Element, the related Revenue Arrangement is linked to that Sales Order for source-transaction purposes.
The transaction flow can be represented as:
Sales Order → Revenue Arrangement → Invoice
In this scenario, the Revenue Arrangement may not appear under:
Invoice > Related Records > Revenue Arrangements
This is because the Invoice is a downstream transaction and is not the original source of the Revenue Arrangement.
Why the Invoice Appears on the Revenue Arrangement
When reviewing the Revenue Arrangement’s Related Records subtab, NetSuite will display downstream records associated with the source transaction, including:
- Invoices
- Item Fulfillments
- Journal Entries
This explains why the Invoice can appear on the Revenue Arrangement while the Revenue Arrangement does not appear on the Invoice.
Administrator Validation Steps
To confirm whether the behavior is expected:
- Open the Revenue Arrangement.
- Review the associated Revenue Element and identify the Source transaction.
- Confirm whether the source is the Sales Order rather than the Invoice.

If the Revenue Element is sourced from the Sales Order, the missing Revenue Arrangement on the Invoice is generally expected.
As a best practice, validate the behavior in a sandbox account before making configuration or process changes.
