How to Find Categories
Content in the community is housed and organized in Categories and Subcategories. In the NetSuite Support Community, categories represent the high level product and technology areas, and subcategories represent specific products or specific product functionalities within a category.
There are several different ways to locate a category or subcategory of interest.
Hover over the Categories tab within the top menu to create flyout submenus that allow you to select your desired subcategory. Ask A Guru > Community Tips, and related discussion forums are organized as categories and subcategories within the community.
Alternatively, you can click the Categories tab to visit the main "Categories" page.
From the Home page, you can select a category option from one of the five tiles available:
Visiting any Category page will present a list of all of the Subcategories contained within it.
You can then click into any product Subcategory page to view all questions and discussions related to that specific topic. Keep in mind that the best way to get prompt responses to your questions is to be sure you are asking them in the most relevant subcategory!
How to Follow a Subcategory
If you are interested in a specific subcategory, you have the option to Follow it.
- "Following" a category allows you to tailor your view so you can effectively screen content of interest to you. Following also becomes important in the context of searching for content, as the advanced search feature allows you to filter your searches to just the subcategories you are actively following.
- You can Follow a Category via its bell icon. Then, you'll be able to choose whether to receive notifications about content in that Category.
To learn more about managing your notifications, see Notification Preferences.
Once you follow content, you can then filter your view to only show Followed categories on the Categories page. Let's see how!
Customize your community view:
- Click on the top menu Categories link
- Click the "View" picklist (which defaults to "All") and instead select "Following".
Once selected, whenever you navigate to the Categories page, you will only see a list of the subcategories that you are following.
This feature also works on the community Discussions page, effectively allowing you to view a list of questions, and discussions that you follow.
You can always choose to revert to the "All" categories view by changing your selection in the "View" dropdown.
How to Search Followed Categories Only
There is an added benefit to following categories: your searches can be filtered to only show results that are contained within your followed locations. When using the advanced search and viewing a list of search results, you can use the right side pane to filter your search to only content in the subcategories that you follow.
Note: These additional filtering options are only available when you search "Discussions", not "All", as shown below.)
