We observed that the Data sets created in DV are available as external subject areas in Analytics.

And these external subject areas are visible to all the users. Attached screenshots for reference.

We need a global setting/mechanism to control (enable/disable) these Data sets visibility in Analytics.

Currently, OAS has no ability to restrict Data Set availability in Analytics.

I request the relevant team to review this and provide adequate solution.

Use Case and Business Need

Currently, we do not see a requirement to make DV data sets available in Analytics.

and by default, we do not want users to view these data sets in Analytics.

your statement : "And these external subject areas are visible to all the users." is not true .

In Answers tool , user is able to see just those external data sets , to which he has been granted privilege for that particular data set (using Inspect -> Access menu). And this behaviour is absolutely correct. You need to set access permission to your data sets correctly to protect them from users, who are not eligible to see them - and this setting is then reflected on DV UI and also in Answers tool.

I think we need to be specific when it comes to usage of see vs access. Prasad is correct in a sense that all users can see.. they can see a list of data sets. However, not all users can access all of the data sets that they can see. Access is based on restrictions set on the data sets under Inspect.

A great idea would be to have the ability to restrict what data sets users can see based on their access to the data sets.

Thanks for your response.

We do not want DV data sets under Analytics, so we already tried via inspect but the problem is we can control the access but not the availability of Data sets itself in Analytics.

Users still see list of all Data Sets in Analytics which leads to unnecessary confusion.

Hi Prasad,

if I understand correctly your requirement, you want to restrict availability/usage of data sets(created in DV) in Answers tool (thus traditional tools) . If this is the case, than it is product enhancement requirement - to have the option (possibly as global setting for all data sets or per data set) to forbid usage of data set in "Analytics" (meaning Answers).

Because for some customers (including us for example) the possibility to use data sets also in Answers is nice feature and we dont want to have it resticted.

Hi Prasad,

since I am in the same position as you (thus I am Oracle customer), I cannot advise you on this. I guess, that Oracle is evaluating each Idea based on "Thumbs Up" collected, relevance of Idea, possibly by "weight" of customer, who has created Idea (you are working for CapGemini ,so I think, this should have a good weigthing factor :-) ). So simply saying try to get as much "Thumbs Up" as possible from different customers/partners for your idea to get appropriate visibility...
