Synchronization of Application Roles and Users in RPD

In OAC currently, we need to create custom Application roles in RPD and to create the Same Application Roles in the OAC console as well, since the "Synchronize application roles" option is greyed out when we open RPD in the cloud mode.

It would be very helpful to make the "Synchronize application roles" option available again for OAC RPD.

Use Case and Business Need

Earlier we were able to use this option by opening the RPD in online mode, but recently online mode has been deprecated from OAC. It gets difficult to maintain the roles at both places, especially when we have 100+ roles.

It's very important for maintaining the data security that the rpd is well protected. It makes it more difficult if one has to create these roles manually. A synchronization possibility would be very beneficial.

I would guess, that with the launch of Web-based semantic modeler, planned for H1CY2022 (see roadmap: https://www.oracle.com/business-analytics/cloud-and-server-roadmap.html) , this requirement will be solved within this web-based modeller - it would be quite natural. Can someone from Product Development comment on this, please ?

Yes. With Semantic Modeler, you can assign permissions and data filters for application roles already created in OAC console and no need to create Application Roles again or synchronize application roles.

The customer has a few complex requirements that cannot be catered to in the semantic model. The RPD did not have data-level security before migration to OAC. Now they want to implement the same using the application roles. I remember we had the option to open OAC RPD in online mode which had the utility to sync the application role. But the online option is no longer available and the customer is not happy having to create so many application roles twice.
