May Layer selector in visualizations
Organization Name (Required - If you are an Oracle Partner, please provide the organization you are logging the idea on behalf of):
IHG
Description (Required):
Several of our users have requested the ability to select a map layer from within the visualization window, rather than needing to either use the presentation variable plugin to force selection or alter the visualization in the options panel. This is a function they are familiar with and use frequently in Tableau.
As an example, we have a map in a visualization where we have Country > State > City > Hotel layers configured. We use a variable plugin to allow the end user to select the view they want to see. This works OK, but it can be a little buggy using the plugin and does throw some messages up, which kind of look like errors. Hopefully this would be a pretty easy implementation as the functionality already exists to hide / show layers in the options / grammar panel.
Use Case and Business Need (Required):
Much better interaction with maps and greater customer experience, overlays and transparency can look messy. This would enable much cleaner way of users interacting with maps. This is key to our transition from Tableau.
