I downloaded and installed the latest version of DV Desktop 12.2.2.2.2.0 (or something like that) and ran the install on my laptop. I also ran the Install advanced Analytics. R starts with no issues. but DV desktop won't start up. the cursor spins for a second then stops. Things I've tried. Repairing, Uninstall and reinstall(with and without reboot), Running it from a command prompt as admin and writing the results to a log ( Nothing in the log shows an issue). Trying to start it from the file system as admin. When I do that I get a debug.log file with the following three entries

Different tries create three lines with different addresses.

I've also tried to change the screen resolution as mine is pretty high. I know the install works as I've used it on other machines with no problems

I'm out of suggestions. any ideas?

There is an SDK part to DVD. It allows you to develop custom visualizations and skins. The SDK is documented in the DVD docs. The reason why the SDK is relevant here is because it launches DVD in a local browser rather than in the nwjs shell.

Therefore I am hoping to see if you can run DVD through the SDK in order to see if nwjs is the cause of your issue.

There's a tutorial here that leads you through the steps to use the DVD SDK to create a custom visualization.

If you follow through the tutorial until you get to the step:

cd %PLUGIN_DEV_DIR%

.\gradlew run

Then you should see DVD SDK launch in the browser.

One additional suggestion is to delete %appdatalocal%\VisualAnalyzer

This is a ne install so I have no projects so no worries on deleting them.

I removed the folder in appdata/temp there was nothing in just appdata

Sounds like a nwjs thing. i.e. the shell we use instead of the browser.

Suggest:

1) uninstall DV Desktop and make sure the install folder is empty/removed

Note that you should/can leave %localappdata%\dvdesktop where it is for this issue. That's where your personal projects live.

2) re-install and try again

If that still does not work, just to eliminate or point the finger at nwjs - can you try the SDK environment that opens up in a browser rather than in nwjs shell? I'm wondering if there is some other node.js installed on your machine that is conflicting - just a wild hypothesis at this stage.

As says it'll delete all your projects.

The only hope to keep them is if had already an export of the projects.

I found useful, especially in cases where previous DVD versions were installed to:

- Uninstall

- Remove all files from C:\Users\<your username>\AppData\Local\Temp\DVDesktop and C:\Users\<your username>\AppData\Local\DVDesktop

- Install it back

Of course this will potentially delete all projects already defined in DVD.
